‘Tis the season for local crafters, bakers, knitters, whittlers, jewellers, painters, sewers, photographers and the lot to showcase their fine skills and creativity at Christmas fairs and markets across the Lower Mainland. I love doing some of my Christmas shopping at these events because there are so many unique gifts to be found.
So here’s a list of some Christmas fairs and markets to check out around the Lower Mainland this holiday season…
The 38th annual Vancouver Circle Craft Christmas Market is coming up soon! From November 9th to 13th, the Vancouver Convention Centre West will be home to hundreds of talented exhibitors displaying a wide variety of artistry. Enjoy seasonal entertainment as you peruse the booths of unique, handmade items and innovative designs. This craft fair is a must see (from the looks of it). I’m planning to check it out on Sunday, November 13th.
Located at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre Plaza, this event runs from November 24th through December 24th and celebrates the rich German culture. Featuring traditional German crafts, food and entertainment for all ages, the Vancouver Christmas Market is a great (and affordable) way to celebrate the Christmas season. I’ve personally never been to this event, but I’m hoping to check it out this year.
I love this market. My sisters and I have gone the past few years and always leave with great gifts for family and friends and a little extra Christmas cheer in our steps. Dozens of vendors from across the province attend this fair showcasing their beautiful and unique displays of creativity. From adorable baby clothing and gorgeous throws to stunning art and beautiful jewellery, you’re sure to find a unique gift for everyone on your list at this market. And for the fellas who may not be into this kind of thing, there’s a generous seating area where they can enjoy a plethora of yummy, homemade goodies while being serenaded by lovely, live Christmas music. This event runs from November 18th to 20th at Chilliwack Heritage Park.
This year’s West Coast Christmas Show & Marketplace is at the TRADEX building in Abbotsford – right next to the Abbotsford International Airport on Clearbrook Rd. From December 2nd to 4th, enjoy checking out the work of many talented and creative local artists. And with Abbotsford being the Mennonite hub of the world (probably), delicious baking and savoury treats will be in abundance.
On November 20th, discover one-of-a-kind handmade goods from more than 40 independent vendors. Located in the charming and quaint town of Fort Langley at the local Community Hall, this one day event will feature fine art, jewellery, baby items, housewares and more as well as art activities for kids.
